hey all,

Just a quick one!iv had my XR 125 l-3 for just over a week and iv noticed that my engine seems to get very hot!

Even on the colder days i still get they hot engine smell!

I never used to get that with my cg and iv been told that they have the same engine! The oil levels are fine and the bike has never cut out or anything!

What are the signs of a 4stroke over heating?iv only ever had 2strokes before my cg and Xr!

Hot engine smell?

Nothing touching the engine/exhaust that shouldn't be?

Could it be grease/oil on the outside of the casing cooking?

Is it new?
It may be the packing oils that they use to protect the surfaces burning off

My CG stank to high heaven after a "spirited" ride trying to keep with two much faster bikes. Smile (safely i may add Smile)

Clutch smell, engine smell, hot metal smell, u name it...... Smile

Also if someone has sprayed WD40 or ACF-50 over the engine casing and/or exhaust to help prevent corrosion, it will pong as it burns off.

During the cold snaps we had by bike barely got hot enough to burnoff the wd40 i lavish upon it, now it sits smouldering at the traffic lights. If your oil levels ok and the bike hasn't started rattling or loosing power or smoking, then carry on.
My engine gets so hot that i can feel the heat through 3 layers of clobber.
