thats weird cos thats like saying a dt125re engine (which is the same as the 4dl) has different mounts to say an 89 dtr engine (which is the almost the same as a 2rk)..i could fit a fit a dt125re engine into my 89 dt cos the mounts are the same..
confused
anyway just get a pv from a pre 2003 DT-R? should bolt in (*should* but the TZR is slightly different from a DT head. I have a 91 TZR and a 89 DT-R) ____________________ 04' DT125RE (run-a-bout) // 89' DT125R (rebuilt + supermoto conversion)

heh
mounting points on DT case is again completley different to tzr
(various years)
my engine is from a 1989 tzr
the early fixed type powervalve is way smaller than the later elec servo controlled version.
will get somep ics of my spare engine tomorrow maybe someone can post 4dl version to compare
been trawling around to try and find a 4dl barrel but no luck so far  |

Not calling you a liar but I had an early 4DL a couple of years back and the mounts looked the same. I cant see Yamaha making a different set of casing for just one model TZR on my 4DL there was a wee steel sub frame that bolted onto the engine and allowed it to fit into the TZR250 frame (250RC) that Yamaha Belgarda had used to make a trick euro style 125.

we talking early engine vs later 4DL model
difference to the case being electric start and extra clutch plate and obviously the elec servo on the head.
the head mounting was exactly same as early engines and the bottom mount looked same but top rear mount on case was definatley different maybe there is a adapter cradle to fit into TZR but mines fitted to a monkeybike so that won't help me
eitherway i don't need elec start and not fussed about extra clutch plate as monkey is very light so the early bottom end suits me.
So now i am on the look out for a 4DL barrel and head if anyone has one available  |

ok got a 3mb barrel for the grand sum of £8
from 1990 DT124R
now i understand these are not the plated type so i can just get rebored, i strip head off my 2RH engine and it fits fine and is same height as the 2Rk barrel so with the 2RK head mounted on top my mounting points on frame won't be affected and i gain the much larger power valve you can see the difference in the porting between the two heads very easy.
now the issues i have is the part of barrel that fits inside the case is different compared to the old one and prob 6mm longer, does not foul anything but it does stick into the inlet hole, should i get this machined to match old barrel and i assume i will need the 1990 DTR piston to match the different tuning in the barrel.
any ideas guys?
