Just to let folk know that local plod (in the North East) are running these 'BikeSafe' type courses this weekend.

Saturday is at Morpeth County Hall, Northumberland and Sunday is at the Fire & Rescue Headquarters in Washington.

Police riders as well as Advanced Motorcyclists are there and it includes a talk and video presentation followed by a ride with the Advanced Riders.

I did one last year and it was a cracking few hours out. Did about 80mile with the advanced Rider followed by a coffee and all for free!!(Even the coffee Laughing ).

Taught me loads as I was quite a nervous, new rider on a decent size bike (Monster S4R). Advanced Rider was on an old Divvy and almost blew me off the road Embarassed

Well worth it if you're in the area.

Just checked on the Dorset police website, they have changed the format so there is a theory day and a separate practical day. You have to do both to get the certificate, but the theory days are only on Mondays.

Suppose it's better to have a day of pure practical, but that means I'll have to take a days holiday to do the whole course, which is a bit crap.

Wonder if any others do this?

I e-mailed them and apparently it's in the evening on Mondays, not the day, so unless you can't get to the Venue by 6.45pm you should be ok without taking leave. Wink
