Hi,

First post so please be gentle!

The paint on my FZS600 has flaked off the engine over a period of time. I want to respray it but don't seem to be able to find any heat resistant paint that will give a gloss/satin finish. The only paint I can find that is heat resistant is matt black and it looks crap.

I thought about hammerite smooth but not sure if it will cope with the high engine temperatures? Any ideas?

Off for a blast now the weather is fantastic!

Cheers, Ben

You could get it powder coated but that would require you removing the engine.

I could take the engine out but im looking at selling within a month or so depending on how work goes.

I looked at halfords but they only had high temp matt paint in. I'll have to have another look later.

Most high-temp paint is matt finish. It helps to dissipate the heat from the paint.

Don't you get coloured engine lacquer? I've got a tin of Engine Lacquer in a cupboard somewhere and it looks like its had drips down it, drips are black (no mention of colour on tin).. perhaps it's that old it turned that way. Laughing
