Anyone know anything about these PDA thingys?

I recently bought a Dell Axim X5 PDA from ebay. It arrived boxed up, and brand new, but has obviously been sitting in stock for a few years.

Upon connecting it to the mains it seemed to be charging - showed a red light that after a few hours turned green - it switches on and works fine on the charger, but as soon as i disconnect it, it loses power completely. Doesn't even work for a few seconds.

The "Power" applet in the control panel shows it to have a 100% charge.

Does this sound like the battery, or a hardware problem with the PDA? As it has been sat for a few (well, 6 or 7) years I think the battery may just be fucked, is this likely?

I have tried charging it overnight and it made no difference. Also tried soft and hard resets.

Thinking of getting an extended life 3000mah replacement battery for it but if it's a lost cause, I won't bother.

Also, can anyone recommend a good wireless card that will work with this PDA (Pocket PC 2002)?

Cheers

Rowan

Almost certainly the battery if its been unused for that length of time.

A guy here got an SDIO wireless card for his PDA for about £25 a year or so ago. I can't remember the make (just a generic type off ebay I think) but it worked well.

If the PDA is unused and undamaged then it's the battery.

I've got a Dell Axim X5 and also have a new Crewave compact flash WiFi card 802.11b, never used it, planned to but didn't. Selling the whole lot soon, but you can have the wifi card if you want £15 seem to be the going rate.

P.S the Dell Axim X5 doesn't support SDIO.
