Right, I am moving out in the next week or two and my new *house* doesn't have a land line and can't be arsed with getting one put in. Not worth the cost.

So I was thinking get one of those cheap mobiles from Tescos or wherever and get one of those sim only deals from any network and just leave that in the *house* at all times.

Got a house mate so would like a phone that was always there, always charged etc

I would like to have a proper house phone with a base and everything though that takes a sim card. Maybe even puts the answer phone messages on the base with a loudspeaker. Anyone got anything suitable?

Cheers

If you've got a cable internet connection there, you could look at getting a VOIP phone :-

Seems like a lot of faffing for someone who just needs two mobile phones, though.

As I said in first post, no phone line. Internets is going to be done with a dongle in the PC.

So no router which means no voip.

All i want is a house phone stylee that takes a sim card instead of plugging into a wall.

You can get mobile internet guys Wink

As for the OP, have you checked network coverage in the new place?

And I don't mean on one of the network maps, I mean actually in the house?

In my house, mobile signal is VERY fickle, move an inch and you have gone from good signal to no signal ... change the day (presumably atmospherics) .. change the number of people using the network at any given time ... and its all different again ... and I have tried three different networks now!! Wink

It might be absolutely fine, but don't take it for granted you will have signal, even more so don't take it for granted you will have a reliable signal ...

Already this through. I reckon I can get an aerial and wire it in somehow. Even if it means taking the dongle apart. Signal is ok in there and computers will be positioned accordingly.
