Im selling some stuff on ebay. A guy emailed me asking if i will post to spain and if he can do a postal payment. I asked what this is and he said:

Quote:
"The postman "visits" you in four-five days since I do a payment in my post office. I need you name and complete address. It works fine!!"

As far as im aware the postman doesn't carry money so whats this all about?

Cheers,
Jason

Did he mean postal order maybe? sounds bit dodgy though. Unless he sends the money first.

Ive had Postal orders for items off ebay.
Basically he takes the cash to post office asks for postal order, costs him money to put into one and its like a cheque, and if its crossed to your name has to be paid into your bank, its like a cheque but much more inconvieniant, unless uncrossed Laughing

Well give him your address and name so he can post it
its usually around 10% of the value, so if hes sending say 60 pounds the postal order will cost him 6 pounds plus postage.
If possible tell him to make it a uncrossed order for ease of payment.

If it turns up and its got your name as the payee this means its crossed, and will have to be paid into your bank account, mine took 6 working days to clear, so dont release money until then as there is a rumour money can still be cancelled if requested before payed in. Unchecked is the way to go as you take it to the postal office and they give you the cash at the post office.

Never reply through the 'ebay emails' anyway, scammers/hackers or whatever you want to call them are getting very good at hoax emails. I ALWAYS log into ebay, check the message there and then reply, that way i know that it is totally safe.

Anyway, i'm guessing his english is just fairly bad (he is spanish after all, i'd like to see the majority of us speak spanish like he can english Razz ) and he probably meant an international money order (like a international postal order/travellers cheque thingy). Whats the worst that can happen if you give him your name and address, he sends his flying monkeys over to come and steal your chimney? Its not as though he is going to travel all the way from spain to rob your house, and i don't think a name and address is enough to commit identity fraud, although i could be mistaken.

Some interesting points, however you give people on ebay your name and address every time you buy something.
Also, i believe most european countries dont do paypal. I had this trouble when buying something from germany.

Fair call that one but I only do it for deliveries.
Not knowing the process involved on this one, me personally, I'd steer clear. That's just me though.

Hell I don't even give birds my address til I've shagged em at least 3 times Smile
