Right basically it was running fine yesterday except top end was bogging down was expecting that as we were going to sort that out to day.
What was happening yesterday was that i would be riding along happily then it would splutter like it had no fuel, i'd pull over have a look. wait 10 minuets the bump it and it would start and run fine. did that again later on after giving it some power to over take a car, then again over a hill.
To day we took the battery out to charge it as it wasnt charging(stinkwheel might remember that from another post i have on here) Then put a switch in to kill the head light as it was drawing a lot off current and not giving the battery a chance to start the bike. after that when putting it together it starts pissing fuel out the carbs have a look at that. Take the bouls of the cards check there not sticking they arent the try to bump it down my hill it would start the just die for no reason as it had a full tank off fuel. Then back at my garage had a look at the card bouls not pissing out fuel like before. is it something with the carbs??
I cant see whats happened in difference's between to day and yesterday. Except the switch which is ony plugged into the head light.
Any help appreciated, cheers Tom ____________________ Bikes i've owned: mobylette ----- Ts 50er ------ GS 400e ------ CB250n superdream ------r6 ------ bandit 400 ----- 2005 kx 125

sounds odd that it changed over night.
although something similer happened to me the other day.
if the carbs letting out fuel, ( i take it its from the overflow pipe?)
im guessing its jetting to much fuel through.
which it will let overflow, so you dont flood anything.
although theres a few causes as to why theres to much fuel going through.
but i cant see why that would cause the bike top end trouble etc

Some of those problems were very similar to what were happening with my CB when i first had it.
I too would be riding along, then it would die (as if no fuel) then after 10 minutes, would re-start and same would happen a few minutes later. Turned out to be an air lock in the fuel tube caused by badly routed tubing. Check the tube for any kinks etc. and if possible replace both the tube and filter to be sure. If problem persists then check other causes of fuel starvation and other things like tank breather etc.
Leaking from the overflow also happened, it was caused by shit from the fuel tank finding its way into the carbs and blocking the needle valve and stopping it from working properly by shutting the fuel supply off. This was first resolved by cleaning the carbs until it kept happening and then it was finally resovled by cleaning and re-sealing the fuel tank with POR-15 tank liner. No troubles since!
If you have filled the bike up now it wont start then possible you could have filled it too far and now it blocking the breather?
Just some things to try as they all happened to me too ____________________ 1980 Suzuki TS50 ~ 1984 Honda CB400N ~ 1992 Triumph Trident ~ 1998 Suzuki Bandit 1200 |
