I'm in Lowton and had a hard time finding lanes when I bought my DR. Legally you are limited to the very odd farm track in the Billinge area (expect a shotgun in your direction if you constantly tear up and down, it won't be appreciated!) or for £30 you can spend the day at the hare and hound track in Abram down the bottom of Park Lane. It's nice and long and was made for Enduro, not MX so your machine will be fine if it is a pukka off roader, i.e DT125 and not a chiese GY125!
I wouldn't worry about travelling to find routes. My DR although a 350, topped out at 60 due to the gearing but I had a top day with the TRF after riding down to Stoke and riding the trails over the Peak District all the way to Glossop before my arse gave up and I left them and rode home down Snake Pass. The DR made the ride there and back easier, but off road, there were a few times I would have given anything to be on a nice, light DT rather then the DR with it's stupendous weight.
Just buy a good helmet, good and comfy off road boots and either a good road jacket or body armour and a jersey if it's more your style and don't be scared of falling off! It will happen! ____________________ "THOSE WHO RISK NOTHING, DO NOTHING, ACHIEVE NOTHING, BECOME NOTHING." |
