Any tips? A friend of mine has expressed an interest in coming on a mini tour somewhere with me. Shes only tiny and I've carried her pillion before and its like shes not even there! Only thing im concerned about is luggage wise and how much stuff i can carry for say, a long weekend or something. Not sure if she can fit on if i have soft panniers on the bike as the seem to cover the pillion pegs up. She can maybe carry a backpack but i'd have no where to carry my stuff. Looking at C-M's run to the black sea, he is carry a load more stuff than I have in the past but yet still had room for his girlfriend? how? magic? Kinda semi thinking one of these cheapo sports racks and top boxes from busters or something but that still comes to about 100quid for something im not gonna use very often.

Ta

G.

Think of where you are going to stay. B&Bs usually have towels and cleaning stuff so you don't need to pack them. then there is what you wear. the clean t shirt you wear in the evening can be the t-shirt you ride in on the next day. Obviously underwear needs to be clean always. put the panniers on and see how she fits. It maybe that you have previously put the panniers on too far forward. If you are camping then you may have to pay that little bit for the extra stuff but there again is she worth it. All female company in my view is worth it.

You'll get throwovers and a pillion on all but the most focusaed sports bikes. Add a sports rack with a big dry sack and a tank bag and you're laughing.

Cheers, i was thinking B&B's as then would have to carry less stuff but camping could be fun too. Think my panniers arent too good a fit as if i push them any further back the strap that goes under the seat ends up on the pillion grab rail. Looks like a sports rack is the way to go. How much weight can you stick on one of those things?

Looks alright that, only thing is im not big fan of my tank bag, seems to get in the way of the steering and the cbr tank is pretty fat already!

Might be worth doing a bit of both.
A friend of mine was pillion with her hubby on trips to Europe.
Every few days she'd insist (in a way that if he ever wanted to have sex again he'd agree) they stay in a hotel/motel/etc. as being a pillion isn't that comfortable for long days with only a tent to look forward too.

Other than that, as said above maybe a small rack and certainly a tank bag to go with the throw-overs. Oh, and remember to have a good time Thumbs Up

Yeah thats one thing im also concerned about, i've no problem riding till my arse falls asleep then riding some more. Already told her that she may get bored on the motorways and have a sore bum.

Very Happy Has she realised that these 2 may not actually be related Wink

...sorry, just thinking out loud, must get out of the habit of assuming kinky sex is always involved Smile

According to the maufacturer, no more than 2.5kg.

According to stinkwheel, up to 50kg (but they get a bit wallowing and wheelie happy when you stick a bag of coal on them).
