Ok I have this sofa. Its quite nice, very comfy and apparently its an antique and worth several thousand pounds. During times of financial need people sell stuff so I am thinking if I can sell it for enough, it might be worth the effort.
Now I think it is called westerfield or westfield. Something like that. I have done a google and ebay search with those but nothing comes to light.
Anyone know anything about these? It has the dimpled effect all over it apart from the bit where you sit.
Not leather, its like velvet almost.

Old stuff is cool, I always got stick from my mum about having these manky old things, crusty old wardrobes with scrolls, curlicues and carvings on them ... but I like them more for their shapes than for what they (might have been).
I can't be arsed with all this Antiques Roadshow type mentality, but its interesting to see the history of stuff. Greed shows in people's eyes on that programme, and you can see them just not interested in the history. I think that's very sad.
My mother tells me that her mum always reckoned she had a Goldie* painting somewhere, but now nobody can find it. Soooo ... my whole family is not exactly racist, but they're not especially pro-Maori. They were just like "some fuckin' old painting of a maori fella with a moko" ... but now they all wanna know where's that painting of my grandmother's.
I just liked the pictures of old Maori with chin tattooes. I had no idea Goldie paintings were worth anything. I have a print of one on the back of my toilet door just cos I like it, some old Maori geezer grinning at ya while you go for a dump. It makes me think of home. If my grandmother owned one, I don't remember it, but it would be nice to hang on the wall, not sell it.
Old junk ... great.
