Hi,

I have been looking for prices of a new brake disc for an 05 honda varadero on the internet and cannot find one for the life of me. The one which is on the bike is a sunstar disc but i cannot find a part number on it. Does anybody know roughly how much a new one would cost as i got a quote of £70 quid + £40 labour to replace mine, is this the going rate ?

Try https://www.stealthproducts.co.uk

Price you have been quoted sound pretty good. Most disks are around that price and £40 is about rignt for a hours labour.

The price for the disc itself is about right, but no way would it ever take an hour to replace a front disc. Wheel off, unbolt disc and replace with new one. £40 is rediculous.

Make sure both mating surfaces are total clean and corrosion free, else you'll have a little runout on the disc. Torque wrench to do up the bolts, so you can get it as tight as possible without worrying about stripping threads. And thread lock maybe?

I shortened it down, that is all. It still isn't anywhere near an hour's work though, does anyone agree?

Many places do not charge for part of a hour, so it would be £40 if 60 mins or 5 mins work.
Also them disk bolts can be very hard to get off at the best of times.

I didn't know that.. but that's rediculous! The disc bolts wouldn't be a problem with proper tools in a workshop.
