I have recently started on a project xj600N (1997) and found that the previous owner has managed to snap both bleed nipples on the brake calipers.

This isn't particularly uncommon on diversions and can normally be sorted out with a banjo bolt with a bleed nipple built on.

Anyway my question is, there is apparently two types of thread, a 1.0mm and a 1.25mm (see ebay link below) https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BANJO-BOLT-WITH-BLEED-NIPPLE-10-x-1-00-OR-10-x-1-25_W0QQitemZ360144953038QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Motorcycle_Parts?hash=item360144953038&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1683|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318

I have no idea what size I need, the workshop manual that I have has no mention of it, and to be honest when I asked the guy on ebay - he didnt seem too sure either!

So does anyone know off the top of their head? XJ600N 1997 is it 1.00mm or 1.25mm (I have nothing that accurate to measure it with)

Thanks

Not sure at all on the thread size.

But at that price why not get one of each and very carefully try them.
Might even find the seller will let you return the unused one, and refund you less postage of course.

Could do that but I need two and fairly sharpish! If someone happens to know it will save me a load of faffing about.

Cheers for the advice though, I might end up having to do that.

If you measure say ten threads it will give you a much easier time at working out the pitch either 10mm or 12.5mm you should be able to measure with just a basic rule or tape

If it were me, I'd take my banjo bolt out, take it to a local fasteners shop (or small hardware shop) and ask them to find the thread pitch for you, they'd most likely be able to tell you.

My local place just gets the correct size nut and goes for the nearest looking thread pitch and sees if it fits.

Put a decent pic here and I'll tell you what the pitch is.

On the RD350 YPVS it's 1.25, so I'd assume that.

Well, it had better be. It's certainly courser than the 1.00 I just bought.
