I have recently bought myself a tidy NSR.. Only managed to ride for a short period as I have no valid CBT at the moment..

I did notice whilst i was riding it that the temp guage was getting rather high. After looking around a few forums I saw that theres a few posts about overheating on these bikes.

Anyway, mine has a brand new m.o.t. (passed on 10/04/09) and im thinking if there was any major problems surely they would have been picked up on the test. I'm a bit worried as my CBT is booked for tomorrow (on my own bike), and I dont fancy having any over-heating problems. Are there any quick and simple checks I can do to make sure my bikes being cooled correctly?

Thanks in advance..

after 10mn running you temp must not farer than 3mm inside the 2nd zone otherwise you have a problem :
- cylinder head gasket worn
- air block in the cooling circuit
- thermostat (the one inside the top ot the head) non opening
- temp sensor or clock worn
- waterpump damaged

When you say leave it running for 10mins.. Ya mean actually riding, or just idling?

It doesnt seem to go very high idling... Maybe I just gave it a bit too much to start with.. :/

Will have a 2nd look tonight and let you know..

Cheers

ridding of course because the colling power is function of your speed , this is why (sometimes) if you're caught in a traffic jam in summer hot hours your temp can reach the red
