I'd probably measure the rate at which it is burning oil tbh , if its more than say 1.5 litres per 1000 miles Yamaha thunderaces burn oil at about 750ml per 1000 miles.
But 1 litre per 1000 miles is an extra £4 in oil per 1000 miles ie 0.004p extra per mile. ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. Probably will sounds like the piston rings are worn , which means new barrel/rebore and new piston rings , which is a fairly big job to do.
Either live with it and the 1p an extra cost per mile in oil burnage. Or replace the entire engine you can get them on ebay for about £120. Changing the engine on a Cg125 is very easy as its such a simple bike.
Heh some people on here on GS500Es have run bikes that burn petrol and oil at a ratio of 2:1. ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. I think what you should do ultimately depends on what you intend to use the bike for and how long you intend to keep it for...
Inthat if you are getting rid within a year or so , I'd live with it, if I were to say ride round the world on it I would rebore it like with my XT600. ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. Mine burns a bit of oil, just keep an eye on it mate, as for big boring, get a cbx550 piston (1mm oversize) with the appropriate rings, have the barrel bored to suit, it uses the same size gudgeon pin and takes the capacity up to 135 -140cc iirc, as long as the bottom end is in reasonable condiotion it should take it ok ____________________ '84 TS50X, '91 TZR125, '89 CBR400RR, '91 VFR400R NC30, '98 R1
