Quick question about skin

What would make a 21 year olds skin nearly turn really greasy near enough overnight?


I have never had exactly the best skin but roughly 2 years ago I near enough stopped getting spots (Get the odd 1 or 2 now). The other day I noticed my skin was really greasy. It still is not nowhere near as bad as it was. I couple of big spots have appeared too.

I'm not that bothered I am just wondering what could cause a sudden onset of slimey face? The changes I can think of in the past week or so is increased stress, less sleep, more smoking and drinking, and less sugar. None of that really seems like a cause.

It all seems like a cause to me. Stress/tiredness/smoking/drinking will all combine to have a big effect on your skin.

Remember skin is an organ, it will produce this "grease" to try to protect itself from your excesses

+1 as said by kwaker6r for internal factors. Also add to that hormones, as it's not only teenagers and females that have fluctuating hormones, unfortunately!

The only external factor that I can think of is if you wash with too harsh a 'detergent' it can make your skin produce more oil to protect it, so if you have changed your washing habits or products this is may be a possible cause.
