 |
|
Hi, I don't have a massively wide knowledge of bikes, so just after ideas on bikes that are silly cheap to run to get me back and forth to work. Must do 70 comfortably. Especially max MPG.
Currently running on a GS500, but need something to get my wife to work too.
Thanks. ____________________ TheShaggyDA: I've got 3 or 4 pairs that predate my wife, so at least 11.5 years old. |

The CBF will happily do more than 60...
CBF125 will return rediculous MPG and its still a large ish bike to ride, very comfortable, and supprisingly fun and satisfying to ride
Best part is, even with the price rises - they are about £2k OTR Brand new! ____________________ CBT Aug '03 ... Gilera GSM 50 ... Honda NSR 125 Aug '04 ...

I have one and totally agree with the 2nd point, however I struggle to get much above 60 (unless downhill with a tail wind) still, thats why they make bigger bikes I suppose! ____________________ Passed - CBT (Mar 09) Theory (Jul 09) Mod 1 (Oct 09) Mod 2 (Nov 09)

Kinroad XT50GY does no where near 70mph a more subtle 30mph but gives you about 170mpg ____________________ Current: Gsxr 600 Srad - GS125 - DT125

I have had a couple of CG's over the years, my recently bought 1993 one tops out at 60, but the gearing could easily be raised. I also had a 2002 model which could reach 70 but that was the realistic limit tbh.
On a plus side my insurance is £55 a year, £15 tax, bargain parts (£11 for a new chain!!) and although I haven't calculated exact MPG, it's so cheap I really don't need to.
All that for £350 and a very real probability that it will never lose anymore value. Can't complain... ____________________ "THOSE WHO RISK NOTHING, DO NOTHING, ACHIEVE NOTHING, BECOME NOTHING." |

I've gone for a CG125, and just take my chances holding traffic up.
Worst comes to worse, I'll have to try resell it. ____________________ TheShaggyDA: I've got 3 or 4 pairs that predate my wife, so at least 11.5 years old. |
