400cc Bikes

I've been looking at various 400cc bikes as i've just passed my test im looking to get rid of my 125 and onto something bigger.

I quite like the cbr 600 but im looking to start on something a bit smaller first and since 90% of my riding will be around town it might be a better option.

Iv been looking at three main bikes which are the fzr 400, zxr 400 and cbr 400.

The zxr 400 is (In my opinion) the best looking and supposed to be the more powerful of the three. Though I have heard they eat head gaskets and arnt the most reliable of bikes. Also most of them are green and can look a bit over the top. The Cbr 400 on the other hand looks pretty good and is honda so should be reliable. The Fzr i don't have much information on as they don't seem to be as popular as the other two. But looks like a good bike.


So i guess my question is what would be the best to get concidering, availability of parts, Performance, Reliability and such?

Any other good bikes i should consider looking at? And should i consider a 600 or just stick with something smaller?

Well any 400 is going to be long in the tooth.

Why not look at some 500's or 600's. You may even find them cheaper to insure.
There will certainly be far more to choose from, so it wil be a lot easier to pick up a good one, at a good price.

Once moving a 600 is as easy to handle as a smaller bike.
