So my bike doesn't idle very well at all, even when it's warm.

I'll pop the clutch in at a junction and once i'm under 1000rpm she just says no and goes to sleep.

I've been told to adjust the idle screw, where abouts is this on the RS125? I've had the side fairings off, i'm thinking it's around where the throttle cable ends up, the black twisty knob? Wasn't sure if it was fuel/air mixture or something/

Don't want to go playing too deep, these are fickle machines!

Thanks in advance to Keith most probably Wink

Hi

Where the cable goes into the carb it connects with the slide. The slide is a tube that goes up and down inside a vertical tubular part of the carb. You will see a screw (quite possible with a black plastic knob on it) to adjust the idle speed. Screw that in clockwise to raise the idle speed (only a small amount).

Basically the screw has a pointed end and a bit at the bottom of the slide is cut at an angle. As you screw the adjuster in it pushes onto the bit cut at an angle and so lifts the slide up a bit.

All the best

Keith

Tried turning the screw clockwise but it seems to be at it's max.

I don't want to force it, but finger tight wise it seems to be fully wound in.

clean all the carb out and the jets and float bowl, then you may have to look at increacing jets if the idle screw is fully wound in, you say finger tight, it will be spring loaded so use the screwdriver to turn it maybe a quatyer of a turn at a time.

hi,
if the idle adjust screw still has the plastic cover/knob on it, then you dont need to use a screwdriver.
in fact i wouldnt risk a screwdriver, you dont want to force it in too far & damage the slide.
turn the screw anti-clockwise, all the way, until it comes out.
inspect it, does it still have its pointed end?
it might need replacing, though i very much doubt it, unless ts damaged.(i havnt seen many wear away)
if it looks ok & is complete/un- damaged, then remove the slide, is that ok? (undamaged & not have a huge indent where the idle screw has been forced in)
i would then be tempted to remove the carb.
clean it out & return to stock settings & start from there.
cheers,
GAZ
