What channels would i go through to say i bought a ticket and stuck it to my tank.

Do you think they would let it go if i just pointed out there was nowhere for me to stick a ticket?

Has anyone got out of this kind of fine before? I DID buy a ticket Rolling Eyes

I spoke to a traffic warden a couple of weeks ago in Northampton who was showing a new bod the ropes, and asked where the nearest bike park was. I was told there wasn't any set aside, and to just use one of the car bays. When I asked about a ticket, she replied that I didn't need one, as there's no way to keep it on the bike, "and it'll only get nicked".

Write to your local council and ask what the policy is on parking payment tickets on motorcycles (or get a friend to). If they write back stating the same as I've been told, then you can contest the fine.

Personally I would have kept the ticket with me (still with adhesive on the back, unpeeled) so that in the event of a parking ticket you've got some proof. If you do have to stick it to the bike, then take a picture of it in place, clear enough to show time and date.

We used to be able to park in car bays for free.

Now they have installed these (pic attached) Which means you have to purchase a ticket.

They may have cctv but some councils will not give you access to it as proof of you buying a ticket.

Been looking at the ticket and the only issue is it states 'parking officer xxx had reasonable cause to believe a penalty charge had been incurred blah blah contravention code 83'

Does this mean parking attendant is king as it says reasonable cause?

Also for some reason my tax disc number was unclear even though its pretty obvious from where i am looking.

Stafford is like this - all car parks are free for bikes, with signs clearly saying this.
There was a write up in MCN a few weeks ago about Staffordshire and their approach to bikers compared to other councils. Very down to earth people Thumbs Up

They can not refuse. If they are doing so, they are breaking the law. The Data protection act makes this very clear: https://www.direct.gov.uk/en/HomeAndCommunity/WhereYouLive/SaferStreets/DG_10034524

Quote:

You have the right to access images of yourself that may have been recorded by a CCTV camera system. This is because the Data Protection Act of 1998 means that public bodies like local councils need to make any personal data available to you if you request it. Personal data is information that relates to an individual and is held by the public body.

You will need to make a request in writing to the owner of the CCTV system. The details of the owner are usually written on a sign attached to the camera. You will need to give them enough information to identify you, for example a specific date and time, and a description of yourself and your clothing. They may charge you a fee of up to £10 for a copy of the footage.

If you contact a public body that holds CCTV footage of you, they must give you a copy of those images within 40 days. They may send you an edited version of the CCTV footage to protect the identities of other people shown in the footage

I get so lost on that one way system Razz I have found a motorbike parking there before but not today ^^.
Do you know if there is CCTV in the canbury place car park?
edit: google maps says yes but I really should have stayed there longer to 'gather evidence' and would have noticed the coverage of it.
Interestingly a freedom of information request two months ago did not list that as a borough run fixed cctv camera.

Thumbs Up This. They've just gotten in touch with me to tell me about a subsidised post-test training assessment they run with local training centres, and a free first aid for bikers course.

They're also hot on any issues I've reported - within a day of telling them that a set of lights wasn't detecting bikes, they told me they'd had it recalibrated by an engineer, and when I replied to say it still didn't detect my bike, they invited me to meet the engineer there so the calibration can be tested with my bike.

The whole rules of M/C parking is bollocks. It varys from county to county.

I went to Hastings a few years back. Found a Pay and Display Car park. Me and a mate parked our 125s in there.

Rather than take up a car parking bay, And loose a potential "sale" for the car park. We decided to park our bikes out of the way, In the corner of the car park, Against the railings.

Didn't buy a ticket as it said Motorcycles park for free.

We both got Parking Tickets, And the reasoning for it was that we wasn't parked in a marked bay.
How insane is that.

We would of been taking up 1 or maybe 2 of their bays, Which could have paying customers cars parked in them.

Fucks me off

I've no issue with spending 20p / 50p / £1 on a ticket. But when I'm clearly doing them a favour by keeping their bays free of our non paying motorbikes. And they sting us with a fine. Takes the biscuit.
