Going rate for points?

On bike or in car?

The vans usually take a photo aswell so be careful who you put down.

Going rate around here is anywhere between £200-£400 plus you pay the fine.

Although don't you have a member of family that would take them for free?

Was in the car and was a set up Ive never seen before.

Scamera set up on the pavement, no car/van in sight. As I had gone by it I could see in my mirror two high vis coats perched against a wall slightly back and out of sight of on coming traffic.

Havent asked if the mother wants to get a few points yet

They have been known to check if the driver you named is insured to drive the vehicle at the time as well. If they are not it could drop you in even more trouble.

If you're lucky then maybe just a DVLA tax/insurance check.
I mention this as I've seen these set up on tripods before.

FWIW I'm tempted to get the numbers of these vans parted on the pavement and report them. Although they do tyr and cover themselves by putting up 'police vehicle only' signs.

Also, while I remember and slightly off-topic, does any know if a scamera van can be classed as a police patrol vehicle?

It doesn't sound like a speed trap, sounds more like DVLA tax check, or VOSA after MOTs.

Were there induction loops across the road? If not then it couldn't be an unmanned camera, and tbh i'm not sure they even use unmanned speed cameras in any circumstances.
