Don't think I agree with the bike you want like (even if it is just a make), you want to get a real bike not a tractor. Laughing

I assume your other half doesn't ride either (/me watches as I put my size nine all the way in to my knee)?

Michelle, Robby is gonna love you.

Bleh why the chopper though? Sportbikes are so much more rewarding, but each to his own.

One assumes because (no offence Missy) she is a 'non-biker' she is uneducated in the ways of the real biker and has not been introduced to the excitement of the sports bike.

I imagine that as any other member of the public, her image of the biker is of the american hells-angel type with too much chrome and not enough personal hygiene.

This (as you may have already guessed Missy) Is not the case here!

The people here don't have any chrome or personal hygiene! Laughing

Nah, only kidding. Seriously though any bike is more fun than a cruiser/custom Harley or Harley clone!

/me hides from Robby. Smile

oooh dear. I go to work for a day ok, a morning, but thats being a civil servant for you and when I come back people are speaking ill of the finer things.

Harleys are cool. Everyone knows that. Contrary to popular heresay I have been reliably informed by a couple of people that the engine on the 1200 sportster is an absolute peach, rather let down by the rest of the package if you try to ride it in anger.

Chrome is good. Polishing it is not, but thats why we get girlfriends.

And those of you who diss cruisers, have any of you ever ridden one? I must state at this point that 125s don't count. And as a general rule, if you ride a 125, you don't count.
Riding a cruiser fast is also very rewarding. A lot of work, particularly if it weights 330kg ish with you on board, but incredibly rewarding.

Nah, it's not what you ride it's how you ride it. I had a lot of fun on 125s and even my DT50 before that.

Ste don't you ride a 40cc on fridays? You can't tell me that's not fun?

Harleys are ok for cruising I guess, but then so are milk floats and golf carts. Razz

I've *briefly* ridden a 1200 Sportster sport and...

it was crap Razz

I found that it was an extremely choppy ride and didn't want to go round corners. When I did try to take it round a corner I had to shift my feet on the pegs to stop them from touching down!
The engine had a nice bit of grunt, but vibrated like f@ck and ran out of puff after about 5000rpm.

My bike weighs 200 ish kilo's dry. I have to say that it has to be the most satisfying bike that I've ridden (I'm not just saying that).

Oh apart from possbly my old VFR400 NC21 Razz Very Happy

Personally I find riding a well setup bike more reqrding than one not.
My RD just isn't as much fun, because the engine runs out of puff and I reach the limits of the bikes suspension and tyres way before I'm near 'my limits' (okay, I could ride it faster and better myself to learning to ride /this/ bike, but I do find a decent bike much more fun). Smile
