Hi Workshop

My ZX6 has been off the road for about a month, started up every week or so, anyway since i have been back on the road i have noticed a worrying rattle, now i know kawasaki's generally make strange noises anyway but this is concerning me.

It is like a clicking/rattling more pronounced at lower revs.

At first i thought it was my chain which needs to be replaced, but the sound persists even if i rev it gently in neutral at a standstill, so that rules out the drivetrain.

The rattle is most pronounced around 3-5k revs and seems to go away the faster you go.

Of the possibilities i can think off it could be a minor hole in the exhaust somewhere or perhaps the header bolts could have worked their way loose, i will check that when it stops raining and i can rip off the fairing.

Could it be something like the CCT? Im really hoping i dont need to have the engine looked at as i have no money at all.

Any suggestions?

Could well be, what kind of noise would a problem with the clutch basket give?

Im not getting any slippage so the plates/springs probably still have some life left...

I havent looked at the clutch apart from some adjustments since i have had the bike, so ill add that on the things to check out

Google it. It's an annoying rattle like you described that bikes develop. I think Kwaks are famous for it. AFAIK is won't cause problems.

Please note that this advice is purely opinion. Laughing Laughing

Rattle speed varying with engine speed? Had a similar thing on my zxr400, turns out the rockers needed replaced and the cam was slightly twisted. Hope this isn't the case for you Karma
