I know I'm being uber-lazy as there are bike shops at either end of my street, but just wanted to get a rough idea from all you BCF'ers. What's an average price for a set of standard-ish 2-piece leathers?

depends on what you want, if you want cheap and quality Hein Gericke make good sets, could probably get a set for couple hundred quid, maybe £300
the bigger names demand more money, like alpinestars etc, but they generally have more supple leather etc.
Only reason i chose an arlen ness 2 piece was because on the sets i tried from Weise, HG etc arms were slightly too long and dug into my wrists. The arlen ness set didnt have that problem, must be because italians are generally smaller? (heres to assuming arlen ness is italian )
my arlen ness 2 piece set was £300 jacket £270 pants, |

You can get el cheapo stuff on ebay for as little as £150, and you can spend up to 2k or so, it's depends entirely on the depth of your pockets and how much protection you think it will give.
Remember there are no legal minimum standards for leather so buy wisely. Get CE approved leathers if you can, not leathers with just CE approved armour(Although lots of that stuff is ok too). ____________________ My Flickr |

I'd say £200 - £300 upwards, although JTS have some suits for £150 about halfway down the page. ____________________ Kal...

First set I bought was a pretty decent Dianese 2-piece. First crash I had in them, they needed a hell of a lot of repair work after.
The leather-repairs person I took them to noted that the poncier 'fashionable' brands are often the worst for being 'single use'.
Crashed in various other cheaper leathers, many, I'm sure, 'as bad' as that crash and they've come out much better (the wheelie one, don't think you were there that day, though I did have a bit of amnesia, so may have forgotten .) Current Dianese one-piece I've got seems a bit thin, but haven't tested it properly yet. |

OK, Interesting as Dianese 'appears' to be sold as the 'premium' off the peg brand! Interesting to hear you think it's not as robust as the cheaper brands!

Wait 2 weeks and go to the BMF at Peterborough. I've been last 2yrs and got some Teknic 1 piece leathers for £50! all other stuff too and plenty of 2 pieces at bargain prices like you say you're after.

I paid £300 for an Arlen Ness jacket, and £250 for my alpine stars pants. Should be able to get a decent 2-peice set of leathers for about £400. As already said, the sky is the limit, and prices just keep going up and up. ____________________

i was in a similar position so went into my local hein gericke to get an idea of prices, they were offereing a deal where you buy the jacket and get the trousers free, so is got my set for £170,
https://www.hein-gericke.co.uk/shop/product_info.php/cPath/1_15_19/products_id/5099
jackets even cheaper now, but even for that price i can vouch for the hein gericke quality, came of a couple of weeks ago breaking most ribs and my pelvis without the slighest scratch on my skin ____________________ 04' Hyosung Comet Gt125
