Hi guys. Me and the Bro and his mate are planning a little tour last week in may. Thought we'd do Wales to warm ourselves up before Europe next year - get used to riding fully loaded, and the things we are, and aren't likely to need on the way.

So, can anyone recommend a good, bike friendly camp site in mid Wales? Some facilities would be good, but TBH we're used to roughing it. We're going to use it as a base of operations, and then make day runs out to Tenby, Welshpool to Bala, Snowdonia, etc... We know where we want to go!

Anyone used a particular place before? I'm going to email a few places, and see if they're happy with us being there - but obviously personal experience speaks wonders.

Ta for your help!

https://www.wyesidecamping.co.uk/

This place is situated five minutes from the town centre of Rhayader, which has the distinction of having the most pubs per head of anywhere in the UK https://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/mid/7423077.stm

They've always been OK with motorbikes in the past. Very Happy

Thanks - i had looked at a few search sites, but they mostly seem to be for the Caravan Club, and things like that!

Dunno bout anyone else, but i feel that if the description says "A very quiet site, the loudest thing you'll hear here is the dawn chorus", turning up on my Kwaka, and Robs R100GS isnt going to make us too popular!lol!

Looking through those, i think we might do a few days from Wyeside, as its in the elan valley, which is where we planned to go anyway, make trips up to snowdonia, and bala, then move sites down to near carmarthen (We have holidayed in Tenby before), and work our way through the Brecons.

Anyway, thanks for the help - now got to sit down and sort out how to get me shit on the bike!lol!

Heh. I know exactly what you mean. The kind of people who want to get up at the crack of dawn and go for jolly good walks etc don't like other people playing glow frisbee at 2am.

One thing we've found is that if you look on the ukcampsite directory for the campsites that allow camp fires, that's often the ones where they are more relaxed.
