Hi all, and thanks in advance for any answers I might get!
I have a honda NSR and after I bought it it broke down. I compression tested it and there was only 5psi! I removed the piston and barrel and its goosed good style, the bore is scored deeply with 1 straight line and the bottom ring has embeded itself into the piston and top ring.
My question is this; Is the bore chrome plated on that year, and if it's not is it possible to re-bore, or could I pop a new piton and rings in and carry on running it?
Regards
Mike

before thinking top-end rebuild , check the status of the conrod especially the side play with blade gauge .it shoudnt be more than 0.5mm (limit is 0.6mm) . afterwards if conrod ok you can buy :
- barrel-piston kit
- set of rings
- piston pin,small end bearing,clips
- base cyl. seal , cyl. head gasket , oil seal (valves shaft)
total cost around £200 vat inc
