Really urgent boiler help

Oil fueled boil.

Basically press heating or hot water advance and after a minute or 2 the "lockout" button will light up.

In the manual this mean I have to wait 2 minutes then press the lockout reset button. I found this button, on the burner control unit right inside the boil after taking the front cover off, then the burner cover off aswell. I press this and it resets and will work again for a couple of minutes then goes off again.

Anyone know what this is and how to sort it? Plumber is being a knob so I have to fix it asap.

Silly question, have you run out of oil? Lockout occurs when the burner fails to light for whatever reason. Failing that it could be a faulty electrode, control box, pump, pump solenoid, photocell, blocked nozzle, or motor. Any of those you will need a boiler man as it is expensive to change bits until the bit you change cures the problem. I know this as I went throgh this just before xmas and had a week of cold everything.

If it has run out of oil the pump will need bleeding, simple if you know how but don't be tempted to make random adjustments. And DO NOT attempt to light the burner if it is not fitted to the boiler, you will loose more than your hair!
