Basically it was a piece about people losing various driving licence entitlements when sending their licences in for updating - name changes, address changes. Licence comes back with bike licence missing, car licence missing or one had his car removed and a bike added, and one had a tank licence added. DVLA refuse to admit it's their mistake and people have to re-sit! Have to send original documents and DVLA destroy and keep on file for just 10 years.
Solution is apparently to request a freedom of information report from them to verify what they have for you on file BEFORE you send your licence off that way it's their record that you will ask them to agree to if anything goes wrong!
Complete nightmare for those involved including a Police Motorcyclist who lost his bike licence and had to re-sit!! ____________________ 'The core of a man's spirit comes from new experiences'

I was told that it would be accepted. Like you say, only way to find out would be for them to lose it
As to do my future job (hopefully) i need to have had my car license for 2+ years, losing the license would suck.
On a side note i dont think it is as common as is suggested. They deal with millions of these, and lose a handful. Still not good, but you have to be very unlucky for it to happen. Doesnt make it suck less if it does mind. ____________________ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Civil Service, which is the people who are in it, is as big an evil as govt. It is comprised mainly of small and narrow-minded retards who have been given huge amounts of power, which they are intellectually ill-suited to handle and bound, by virtue of psychological deficiencies, to abuse.
I call it 'Kapo Syndrome'. Little hitlers, given a uniform and a stick and told they can tell it like it is to the common prols.
They are vermin, true enemies of the people. The police are the very worst of them, followed very closely by the scum in Customs & Excise, and the DVLA not far behind. ____________________ "There's the horizon! Ride hard, ride fast and cut down all who stand in your way!" |

I got the lady at the DVLA to photocopy and stamp it with their date stamper.
Funny thing is the woman reckoned it was an old problem
Edit; why not simply report it as stolen everytime you need a new licence, most updates cost money and the beauty would be you dont have to send off the original ____________________ Ducati 996 Biposto

I just sent mine away for updating. I photocopied it and got the most senior person available to sign it. If its good enough for a passport photo...
That said, it came back with everything intact ( and was suprisingly clear of points...) I was worried that they'd remove all the towing and minibus entitlements as you now have to take seperate tests to acquire them. I certainly wouldn't put it past the DVLA to remove these as a revenue generating process...
For what its worth, I took all my stuff into a local DVLA office and they sent it all away internally. Probably make no odds but I still beleive its better to speak to a face as opossed to some random at the end of a telephone line.
