Anyone know any good products? I've tried cocoa butter but that just makes them too soft and stretchy. Any other remedies?

Tattoo over them? Unless it's your face. Smile

Googling 'scar cream' brings results but I can't vouch for any of it. Smile

I have a number of stretch marks/scars on my big fat belly. Was gonna tattoo little red arrow jets on the ends of them. I'm attached to them now. I go up and down shifting/gaining fat and muscle every month so no point in hiding them. Believe it or not some women like them. Plus when someone asks about the ones on my arms i just say I'm a junkie and watch their reaction.

How old are the scars?

Hospitals give you silicone gel in a pad form to massage into the scar after an operation to reduce the severity of the scar.

Not sure if it works on old scars though. And they are quite expensive. Maybe ask your GP for a prescription for one if you don't fancy shelling out.

Edit> Something like this https://www.allegromedical.com/wound-care-c541/novagel-silicone-gel-sheets-gel-sheet-10-bx-p201009.html

Supposedly Bio-Oil is the best thing out there. I wouldn't know though, as I quite enjoy the many scars I have on my head, especially with a freshly shaved head. Additionally I have stretch marks around the armpit area and the backs of my legs from gaining a lot of muscle in a short space of time over the years, but these fade after a while, and to rub oil into them would be gaaaaay.

These a are sugical scars, so pretty fooking deep! The first set have been there for 4 years and faded away nicely, didn't bother me at all.

Then I went back for surgery and I think the surgeon must have been blind because he hasn't exactly cut neatly along the old ones, just made a big overlapping mess.

They're about 4 weeks old so I figured I'd try and get them early, I'll have a word with the surgeon on my next consulatation and see if he can get me something Thumbs Up

I'd imagine if anything helps, its makes a very minimal difference. . .

I've tried Bio-Oil - Rip Off! And very oily (suprise) Shocked

Oh and I have some Grean Moa cream - humm. . . can't see differences. . . but I'd imaine with anything you would have to use it over a very pro-longed period and take before n after pics. . as proof

My answer for me is - no suntan on my face then you can't see the scars too much. Baseball cap!

feck all IMO I tried them all and a scar is a scar. You could try palmer's cocoa butter, for stretch marks but its the same thing. I havnt tried bio old but I dont intend to waste any more money in things like that as they dont work.

laser surgery works apparently.

I think with Bio-Oil you have to use it consecutively for a minimum of 6 months before you notice the effects (if any)..... though they would say that to ensure healthy profits.

They might dig a scar from an operation on your arm, or a knife wound or something daft. But they certainly don't dig big grafts on your leg Crying or Very sad

I'm tempted to get a little zip tattoo'd at the top of the scar on my abdo (laparotomy and splenectomy). When i still had my clips (staples for you numpties) in, it looked exactly like a zip, was quite amusing Laughing

Best thing i found to use on my grafts was something called Diprobase Ointment (make sure its the ointment and not the cream). This was reccomended to me by tissue viability (basically the nurses/doctors that specialise in open wounds, closure of them, stimulating granulation etc etc).

It really reduces the redness in my donor sites and the grafts themselves but not sure how it would help a normal scar from a scalpel (not tried it on mine to be honest, i just leave them be)

Why would anyone mind about scars that are not on their face?

I used these on the scar on my hand: https://www.boots.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10052&productId=2591&callingViewName=&langId=-1&catalogId=11051

I think I bought a couple of packs and didn't need to use them all. They flattened the scar and reduced the redness as well, and it's stayed looking as good as a scar can since.

As others have said it's not bad and will be almost invisible in a year.
The only one that is still showing on my leg after 2years is the bit where the bone ripped through the skin and popped out and a small area around it where the bone graft was done. My other one where the metal plate was put in is barely noticeable.

What is it with men sharing scars? Darren does this, he has about 5 on his face alone, then a story about all them come out. Rolling Eyes Laughing

Wouldn't worry about them they are battle scars wear them with pride.

Yeah I just saw an advert on TV for the bio oil stuff, I'm gonna try and get it through insurance as most of these things are stupidly expensive - as usual with cosmetics.
