Thought it share a short rideout story.

Went out yesterday afternoon as I'd had enough of studying and pretending to study, it had been a lovely 2 weeks and I'd only done some small commuting so I needed a proper hoon.
So by the time I'd dragged myself out of bed, begrudgingly had breakfast and showered, I took my bike out the shed, cleaned and lubed the chain and done the tyres. Headed off to asda, filled up my tank for my happy ride. 4.77 litres, that's all in the past 2-3 weeks.
Got onto the dualer and lo and behold, it starts raining, hard fucking rain. Halfway to my turn off someone almost changed lanes into me to overtake a slow feller, but noticed me at last second, I flashed them to go anyway, since they were kind enough not to kill me.
Got to my turning into my twisty paradise and about 4 miles in I ended up behind some old bikes riding in group (about 10 or so), followed them sedately through the twisties, not doing anything stupid, got to a longish straight and overtook all but the last 3 and had to pull back in because of bloody cyclists on the other side of the road, so here I was stuck on a sports bike between a group of presumably gruff vintage bike enthusiasts for the best part of 5 miles until the pissed off (not before being stuck behind some slow prick in a vectra, whom also got overtaken promptly when the bikes pissed off), then finally got to my favourite twisty bit, in which I wobbled in the turning whilst leant over as a catseye was dug out(!).
This is what I went out for, 15 miles of the best twisties in my area, about 2 miles in I came into a long group of about 5 or 6 cars being held up by some old timer in a Fiesta (surprised it wasn't a beige volvo). These are VERY twisty roads, so no space to overtake 1 car, let alone 5. Long story short I didn't get past them until about 2 miles to the end of the road, then it was boring Dual carriageway all the way home.

tl;dr: My first hoon in 2-3 weeks ruined by 3 factors which I usually assume I'll get one of if I'm unlucky. After my last exam Thursday I'm going to ride the shit out of those roads.

Its interesting you should say 'presumably gruff vintage enthusiasts'.

Yesterday I went for a ride on the MZ because I needed some plugs for the powervalve. I was riding along near my house and slowed for a mini roundabout where I wished to turn right. At that moment a Harley rider came up behind me revving his engine. Once the right was clear I pulled out, and accelerated perhaps a little quicker than was necessary. The Harley rider overtook and I noticed that on the back of his jacket was one of those camp slogans you see on supposedly 'badass' bikers. It was something like "Menace on the road" or something. He let off a couple of backfires and I took that to be a humorous attempt to sound lke my popping and banging MZ. I was chuckling away to myself as he turned off of the road we were on and I gave him a little wave.

It only occurred to me later that he could have had some kind of grump on and was actually doing those things out of malice. I don't believe that though. He was an old gipper in his sixties wearing a "Menace on the road" jacket backfiring a slow Harley after overtaking an MZ. He HAD to have a sense of humour! Laughing

The same could be said for your Classic bike riders I guess...

@MarJay, the ones I saw didn't do anything that made them come off as miserable old fuddy duddies apart from not waving, but not everyone waves when people* overtake them Laughing

Paulington; I plan to ride like a demon on Thursday, straight from uni, not passing home, not collecting £200. Might even take an even longer rideout to make up for it (maybe 150miles or so). Today was such good weather as well, not a cloud in the sky and winds below 20mph (this is rare for Aberdeen) Sad I was tempted to just sack off revision but I can't be arsed with resits.
