I was looking for something the other day so up in the loft ....

Anyway, not only did I find my 3rd place Judo trophy from 1984 - don't feck with me or I'll judo chop you Very Happy - I found one of my old Gollys (Think they are just Gollys now right?!!? Thinking).

And here it is ... skiing Golly badge ...

So come on, show us your Golly badges! Thumbs Up



BTW anyone thinking of posting 'funny' Rolling Eyes racist pics - don't, its lame Thumbs Down ... this thread is about the Robinsons Gollys and a blast from the past!! Thumbs Up

I've got this 'un given to me waaaay back in the day - How a grown bloke thought that this was an appropriate gift for a child of the 70's I have no idea, it's never seen the light of day!

Weren't these originally advertising mascots of some sort?

I wouldnt know... im not ld enough to remember them

Yep, you collected tokens off the side of jam jars and sent off for them. Just like you do many a promotion these days. Everyone loved them Thumbs Up Sadly the original/full name of the Golly was finally deemed offensive. Its clearly PC bollox gone OTT, but then its that way with so many things, like I think you have to call them 'chalk boards' at school now!! Rolling Eyes

It was just a blast from the past and I wondered how many collectors of them we had on here. I only ever got 1 or 2 of them as I used to have to fight my sister for the tokens ... and she was bigger than me!!! Laughing

You complain about it being politically correct madness and yet still skirted away from typing the name. Is that not PC Brigade brainwashing at it's best?

They're called gollywogs and they always will be.

Inherited a collection from a family member but they were lost at some point in my childhood.
