Hi,

Can anyone convert an image to a vector graphic for me?

It needs to be saved as .eps, .ai (up to version CS2) or .cdr (up to version 11).

Would be most appreciated.

GIMP which is free and is like photoshop might be able to do that.

What you have to remember is that vector graphics and bitmap images are very different things. Using something automatic like vectormagic is fine for simple images however if you are trying it on more complex ones then you wont get the same kind of quality as you would from (re)creating the image from scratch as a vector graphic.

That said Inkscape had a pretty good tracing tool that can create vectors from images.

GIMP can't, not without a massive load of script-fu and python-fu, and even then it blows. If you don't know what you're talking about why suggest googling it?

Inkscape can do a fairly decent job if you have got time to muck about with the settings using potrace (it's built in I think) - look at this link

* all viewable elements have a minimum width of 1.5 mm
* all space between elements (negative space) must be at least 1 mm in diameter
* the design cannot be larger than 30 x 30 cm. We recommend a size of 22.5 x 22.5 cm.
* parts of the design which are less than 1.5 mm may extend a maximum of 10 mm from the base (e.g. pointed ends)


I'm having continuous problems with this damn website - I know if I try the alternatives I'll have the same problem. Rolling Eyes Are they just being fussy or is there a genuine issue when it comes to printing?

Can anyone help? I've got the Adobe Illustrator file. I've submitted and edited numerous times but I'm still not getting anywhere!

Pretty please! I'd offer money or something, but unfortunately myself and the club don't have any!
