Hi guys,

Looking at getting rid of the VFR800 and onto a GSXR600/750...

Have about £2,000 to spend, would this get a decent one? What do I need to look out for on the SRADS?

Thanks Smile T

I have a K4 600, bit out of that price range though. Love it to bits though, and i know a few people with S-RADS who rave about them. Think you'll be able to pick up a v.nice bike for that price mate..just gotta make sure its in good nick and been looked after =]

Srads, only thing to look out for is knackered suspension and the brakes.

Rebuild will sort them both out.

Get the 750 to Mr. Green

Have a butch around Gixerjunkies.

I owned an SRAD for 6 days before my major crash, they dont handle very well and its not just me whos said it either, the 750 is worth it more with its better suspension and braking ability.

Like mcgee said, head over to gixerjunkies and have a nosey. Thumbs Up Smile

Who else said it? The guy you crashed into? Razz I've never heard anyone say that the SRAD's weren't good for handling. In fact I've heard lots of the opposite.

Well I've got a 96' 750 SRAD and I seem to go round corners pretty well ... sounds more like either the particular bike you owned had shot suspension or you were the problem!!

Wasn't it *cough* the May 2008 Performance Bike who did a comparison between a 1998 S-RAD and a 2008 GSXR? I believe the outcome was there was very little between the two, and simply upgrading the brakes and suspension would bring the older model almost in-line with the newest model for a fraction of the price!

I'm sure someone will be along to correct me in a moment lol

A few people who have owned them, i couldnt adjust to mine in the 6 days an it nearly killed me. They dont handle that well tbh, Nick606 off here just bought a K2 750 and he said it handles like a barge compared to his hornet...

Maybe we are both imagining it then? Rolling Eyes

You had the bike for six days, wrote it off and conclude they handle rubbish? OK.

I've ridden an SRAD, brakes weren't great. Handling was OK, I didn't ride it fast enough to properly tell really but it did feel a bit of a bus. Though some people like bikes like that.

Have you considered a Triumph TT600? better spec than an old SRAD and generally in far better condition.

By the fact that so many millions think differently, that may very well be the case. For the age that they are at now you're bound to have a few that are a bit tired, even if they do look immaculate. Never seems to be many peoples priority to get the suspension sorted on an old bike.

Listen, I'm just relaying what others have said, i'm sorry that you disagree, but its not just me, i had the bike six days, i couldnt get used to it, it didnt handle like anything i had ridden before granted the biggest thing i've ridden is 600 on the road for 6 days, but i've ridden R1s around the work yard and they "felt" much sharper than my SRAD did.

I dont give a fuck what anyone else has said, i said from my experiance it didnt handle that well, i didnt mean that they are all wank. They're a good bike, but handling is something to be improved on. Rolling Eyes

Not bothered either way, was just quite funny by how easy you made it. Laughing

Don't take it too serious though eh. Like I said there are bound to be a few with strange characteristics by now. No need to attach that to the whole lot though.

TT600 is another option, but it looks like a melted wellington.

Been out on the Viff a bit this week, I still actually quite like it so may keep it :S

He prob doesn't think it handles that well (ie "flickable") beacause he's gone from something with wide, high bars (the hairnet) to something with clip ons. (gsxr).

Precisely what I was about to type Garth, the hornet will feel more flickable purely because of the riding position and the wider bars. Thumbs Up
