My first ever attermpt at polishing Smile .

Is there any tips for polishing im using some auto-sol on a rag and then using 1200 Wet n Dry repeating that process.

Also i need to decided on what colour to have the fork legs as i would like to get them anodized but not Gold as i think its a bit common (Absolutly stunning But common) Which colour would suit the bike in your opinions all welcome

Looking good so far.

However going from wet and dry (1200) to autosol and back again won't really do much, will kind of have you going round in circles.

What you want to do it go back a few grades in the paper, when I did my frame I went back to 120 grit but that was to cut through the anodizing. I'd say to get a decent finish on them yolks go back to 400 grit, give it a good going over, never rush layers otherwise you will never get a perfect finish. Then go to 800, 1200, 1500 (if you can get it 2000) and then autosol.

Sounds like a lot of effort but will get a proper mirror finish quicker than just using 1200 grit paper.

All the best

Joe

Given your bike description, I'd go with black.
Of course, I also happen to like black forks quite a bit...

Surely the anodizing would rub off with use, and look a bit crap?

Waste of money IMO...

The original finish is anodizing, to protect the alloy.

All the best

Chrome is anodize isnt it? And "Anodize" is just a coloured version of it?

Or am I way off? Laughing

Hi

Similar processes. Both are basically electroplating, but anodising is not plating with chrome.

All the best
