Riding at Night....

...I don't mean commuting or actually returning home from a ride when it starts to get dark, but....

...does anybody actually enjoy riding at night? Would you plan a later evening ride?

Especially on these warmer nights, I've been sitting at home in the smoking jacket and cravat, musing over my pipe and thinking 'It'd be quite nice to go for a little blast now before bed'. Obviously the wife soon scuppers that plan, but I can see the attraction.

Anybody else enjoy riding on the dark side

I used to but changing to a SM with what must be the worst lights ever makes it not so fun. It doesn't help that the light shines up behind the number board thingy lighting my face up lol. Strangely I have enjoyed riding in the rain on my 250 recently just riding pretty calm and in no rush.

I like it.

The downpipes on the GSX glow red and backfires look ace...

Downside is the headlight is not too good but it'll do. Full Beam is open for debate on whether it's brighter than dipped...

Plus one cannot plan too far ahead so no hooning on the roads when you can only see 3ish metres..

I visit a mate once a week, coming home around midnight. It's a half hour journey if I take the dual carriageways, about 45 minutes if I take the B roads back through the villages. I love the ride. Everything is still and quiet, hardly anyone on the road at all except hedgehogs and foxes. Feel like riding lidless to make the most of it - might get an open face for the summer.

Upgraded my headlight bulb so riding at night is loads better. The thing i replaced looked like summat found in a lighthouse.
Yeah always liked riding at night, but short stints only. Gets quite tiring having to up the concentration on B roads (my fav haunt)

i agree with the sm thing, (headlights arnt great) but otherwise from that i enjoy riding at night mainly cos theres no cars about and less dangers

I love riding at night, I personally would ride at night rather than in the day. And since i've got the new lights on the bike with a 145watt low beam it makes back roads even better. I think the best part is that you can see the cars coming round the corners so you know wether or not you can cut the corner.

i love riding at night i actually prefer it to riding in the day as theirs alot less traffic on the roads and less to think about so equalls more enjoyment if u ask me.

I love it.
I live up really narrow country lanes and the only time you can smoke it is at night because you can see when a car is coming due to there really annoying blinding lights that they think bikers dint mind being in full beam

you cant beat a night time hoon down the country lanes the lights on my vstrom are awesome. Theres a hill nearby which is unlit i always kill the engine and coast down nice and quiet.

Once did it on my ls125 killed the engine then realised the lights run off the engine and not the battery everything went very dark very fast i fecking shit myself


Just make sure somebody knows what route your going incase you bin it in a bush they know where to look.

I do love riding at night however the headlights on the RS50 are shocking, I'd have better visibility duct taping a candle to the front fairing.

absolute quality at this time of year.
infact, i tend to think that in my twilight years, when i think back on my most memorable rides, the night time ones will be the clearest in my memory.
was through visiting some friends last night on my fireblade and the 40 minute journey home, just before midnight topped up my enthusiasm for the bike.
could just be that particular set of roads, but the journey back was definitely more memorable/enjoyable than the journey there
the fact it's dark loosens the inhibitions/ fear of being seen by plod, And the tendency to whack the throttle when you switch to fullbeam and can see where the road goes gets the old pulse racing.

HID's + High Beam + Peterboro to Loughborough via Rutland at 10:30PM en-route from london Job done! It was a bloody good ride! Sunday night is very quiet, i'm quite surprised that nobody does it more often. HID's are bloody good at lighting the road ahead!

Yeah, it's great because the roads are very quiet and that's when you get to enjoy riding the bike, on a warm night with just enough street lighting allowing you to just concentrate on the road without distraction.

I enjoy riding at night, particularly since I upgraded the headlamp to a halogen bulb on the CD250. In fact last night I went for a ride down to the coast at about 11:30, just because I fancied it.
