Cagiva Mito Starting problem

Hi

I have a Cagiva Mito 125 1999 model and it won't start, I haven't a clue about being a mechanic but I can say the following:

Turning the ignition, the lights come on, I can hear a couple of servos whirring into place. Then pressing the ignition button there is a slight whirring, and a buzz at the battery.

Anyone give me a clue?

Ive got a mito too

mine did the same - top up ur battery with distilled water + charging should do the trick - or new battery

where r u in the country?

I kinda guessed battery, but I wanted some confirmation.
Apparently the alternator doesn't kick in until 6000 revs, and I use the bike to go to work on, and I use the lights. So I'm thinking the battery is constantly draining - ace design.

I'll try a new battery Rolling Eyes

Try bump starting the bike first and running without lights(if possible) for a while to get the battery charged. Or just charge the battery...

Hi

You are meant to check the charging circuit at 6000rpm, but it is producing significant current from around 2000rpm.

It is probably that your battery is on the way out. You might get a bit more life out of it by topping it up with distilled water if it has run low, but if it has run low then it probably isn't going to last that much longer anyway

My cagiva batt died with two years use. A low batt will spin up the starter, but as soon as it engages the flywheel it will stop.

Try and run the engine at higher revs, not just to charge the batt, but constant running at low revs will gunk uo the powervalve, head,exhaust and plug which will cause running probs.

If you try and start your bike and it just clicks and doesnt spin the starter - there is a electrical box halfway between the batt and the startrer. Poke the diode on this and try again. Mine did this all the time for a while.
