Have wanted one for ages and now I have it. Mr. Green

Having not used the KLE at all since November, I considered earlier this week that maybe I wasn't all that attached to it, so I chopped it in for this. Picked it up in the van this afternoon, not ridden yet but getting mildly excited as hopefully the insurance will come through tomorrow. I must be getting older as it was £120 TPFT for the year. Thumbs Up

It's very good Mr. Green Mr. Green Think i'm gonna enjoy this one for a while.

The goal today was to try and ascertain the much maligned tank range and just get a feel for the bike. The plank of a seat wasn't quite as bad as I had expected but after an hour or so and 50 miles I was ready to stop somewhere and rest for a bit.

Interesting quirks; 78 miles to reserve Laughing I switched it over and it then chugged out again 5 miles down the road, I had read the reserve tank was bad, but I was praying it wouldnt quite be that bad. Luckily after a bit of jiggling it fired up again, and I managed to get to a petrol station just over 12 miles from when I switched to reserve.

So 91 miles, and was only able to squeeze 7.1 litres into it at the petrol station (this is definately a bike that needs to be filled upright Razz). Gives a fuel consumption of 58mpg, better than I was getting on the KLE which was ridden sedately compared to this. So quite pleased with that, although will be getting to know most of the petrol stations around here quite well I reckon.

Also, first bike i've seen that has two fuel taps, fuel tubes feed from either side of the tank, before meeting at a T-piece on the left hand side and then into the carbs. So in theory I suppose you could work the bike to have 2 fuel reserves, but quite why you would want to do this I dunno.

Lots of popping and generally unsociable noises on the over run Thumbs Up , sounds good to me with the standard can, so the carbon can co. slip on I got with it must be very loud indeed. Think I will hold fire on fitting it for a while, as this bike will already get enough unwanted attention.

So, chuffed basically. Thumbs Up

Ditch those tyres - I used to have them and they are awful.

But, on the flip side, really good fun in the wet! Slippy!

Thumbs Up

You still got the MZ?

Good to know about the tyres, I think they are Maxxis. What would you recommend?

Yep I've still got the MZ. I've got a set of Diablo scrubs from my monster on it at the moment. Got them fitted and then ended up in the hedge - then hospital for the night Embarassed - because I was being an idiot though.

BT090s would be good. Thumbs Up

Edit. Me ending up in the hedge has nothing to do with the tyres. Diablos are really quite good and you'd be surprised just how far you can push them. Thumbs Up

They were asking 2250, but I chopped in my KLE500, so didn't end up paying very much.

More than i'd have liked, felt I got shafted a bit on the KLE price, but the thing was rotting through and wasnt inspiring enough to turn a wheel at all since November, so thought id best get shot of it.

I have a nearly 20 year old Honda CB-1 that was looking newer than some of the metal on the 2006 Kawasaki. Rolling Eyes
