Afternoon everyone!

My little brother joined a site called swapz - the idea being you swap items.

He stupidly swapped a Nokia phone for an iPhone. He sent off the phone as instructed and the guy said he had also sent his phone and provided a tracking number. Thing is my bros phone arrived at its destination but this guy never posted his. I have his details

Name given: David Hart
2 Council Houses, Fairy Cross, Lostwithiel, Cornwall PL22, United Kingdom

Tracking:ZW 9539 2650 7GB
His mobile: 07708 824029
Username on swapz: bluestimpy

Am half tempted to drive the 5 and half hours with a bat to go and see him.
After reading through his feeback he never seems to post anything and so spends his life ripping people off.

Make me sick when people do things like this.

What can be done? Anything? Anyone want to visit him for me and give him a kicking?

Any help much appreciated

Cheers

C

What do the site admin say? Surely if he's done it a few times now they'll be taking action against him?

and what came of the tracking number? Surely it referred to something?

Hi

The tracking number is a valid format for the royal mail special delivery. However it is not a valid number if you try to track it.

You can report it to the site and the police, as it theft/fraud but the phone is probably gone and your brother needs a lesson on identifying scams.

Regards
Charlotte

You can tell that its not a real tracking number the first actual number is a 9, royal mail havent got to the 9's yet most start with 3-7. Thumbs Up

Having checked my nice stack of recorded delivery forms...

You are worng..... I have 1st numbers from 1 - 9 Shocked

OP needs to report to the police, while they may not do anything. It could be if this guy has done it before he is known to them and they are just waiting till its worth while taking some action.

You Brother, needs to learn to read before leaping in future.... Hard leason he has learned, but will make him more aware of the scammers out there.

Pop along to see the old bill. The actual offence is Fraud by Misrepresentation. ie. He offered something for sale / trade but never had any intention of supplying the goods.

Let me predict how that'll go...
1. Knock on door.
2. Door opens.
3. "David Hart?".
4. "No one with that name lives here!, sod off!".
5. Door slams shut.

As said, get in touch with the police.
At least they can check who actually lives there.

I know there was a guy prosecuted successfully because on eBay his adverts were worded so people were buying a picture of a mobile phone not, as they thought, the phone. He wasn't done for that but one time he didn't post the picture so was nailed for fraud or some such. Appeared in the local papers (I saw them myself) so a genuine story not urban myth.

Best of luck Thumbs Up
