I like Knox and rate their products as functional and affordable, but I wasn't taken with the idea of these gloves. Firstly I don't like the gauntlet style because I can't get them under my jacket, and secondly I think there's way too much crap attached to the glove to cause you damage.
Also they don't appear to be CE approved, only the Halvarssons Safety Grip glove is, but they're also gauntlet style and aren't waterproof. ____________________ My claim to fame: Austin Vince nicked my pen...

Is it wrong I want to buy them just because they are called handroid? ____________________ Well, you know what they say. If you want to save the world, you have to push a few old ladies down the stairs.

I checked them out when i went to the store, didnt impress me too much, the rubber worms that run down the hands to the fingers in my opinion are just a gimmick and i dont think they would offer any more protection than a standard armoured glove |

Hmmm...
* Getting them UNDER the jacket... isn't the idea it goes OVER the sleeve for added weather and crash protection?
* Not CE marked... I hope they are, because otherwise I don't see how my "local" bike shop can be selling the new Knox range on a big ol' display with flyers and little brochurettes and the like.
I was quite interested when I saw them but unfortunately I didn't have time to try any on. I'd be most interested in the others in the range - there's a winter spec with the full SPS etc (previously only the Weise Pacific filled this niche), and another that uses that futuristic non-newtonian gel stuff that hardens on impact - staying flexible most of the time but turning into armour if you hit something. If there's one which combines the two features, it'd be epic. And probably well out of my budget range
(Despite trying to keep things cheap, I splashed on RSTs with SPS in even for my first gloves - the stock in trade of the nuclear medicine dept at the old Selly Oak hospital was checking for (and generally finding) compound microfractures in the wrists of people who had come off motorbikes, MTBs/BMXs, skateboards etc... don't really fancy that)
edit: they have waterproof, breathable winter-spec ones for £100. Tempting. Tried some on, the elastic wrist seal is a bit of a faff with a jacket on, but does go. Noticably more toasty than my normal RSTs even after just a couple minutes in the shop. Nice soft material. Click-tighten system is a bit of a gimmick, not sure if it'll last (the advantage vs velcro is... what, exactly?). Main problem with them is they're only available in the same colour as every other winter glove ever. Featureless matt black. Guh. Oh well, who's really looking? |
