about 2 months ago if that i got a puncture, tried filling the tube with slime which was all good till about a week later when all the slime ended up outside the tyre and all over the bike. at this point i bit the bullet and shelled out on a new rear at a cost of about £100 Evil or Very Mad.

so now with new tyre on, just nicely scrubbed all the way to the edges, ppsssssssssssss. another fucker Evil or Very Mad , i am adament this tyre is staying on and i am most definately not shelling out another £100 for the sake of a little metak twat in my tyre, i would rather have a blowout and die to be honest Laughing .

been scouring ebay and found this.

https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Stop-Go-Pocket-Tyre-Plugger-Kit_W0QQitemZ130303709303QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_3?hash=item1e56b4d077&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1683%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A2%7C240%3A1318%7C301%3A1%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A24

im not after any advice on weather or not to do it as i have already decided i am, would just like to know if there any good, how long will it last etc..

anyone tried these?

Just take it to a tyre place and have it repaired.

Had similar issues a while back. Got a new tyre because one was popped then found a screw in my brand new BT014 a day after it went on. Nothing more frustrating.

Depending on where it is it can be plugged. Don't panic and bin it just yet! Wheres it been punctured?

the puncture is pretty much smack bang in the centre. Thats a good thing right?

put some slime in again earlier which held it together to finish the ride and get me home, which it did, but the triple figure speeds soon saw slime flying everywhere again lol, should have took it steady i know but i was past caring at that point

i know, but it would be so much easier logistically to do it myself, the nearest place to me who do z rated tyres is 30 miles away, which would mean transporting a loose wheel to that place ,taking time off work to do it. plus with the kit i get 15 plugs, and at the rate im going i will be using most of them before the tyre is worn out Laughing

Any tyre place will do it for you. I'm sure that 30 miles to the nearest place is an exaggeration considering you're in a big place like chesterfield. Razz

i rang around all the local shops last time and they all said they wouldnt because it was z rated, the nearest place that specialise in z rated repairs is in derby-30 miles away, i wouldnt call chesterfield big either

if they dont want to repair it they should just tell you that i have been working in the tyre industry for 15 years now and can tell you that there is no difference in any sort of repair be it z rated or v or any other. the problem you might have is the slime you put in the tyre can absorb into the rubber and make a vulcanised repair impossible. as to the kit you have scene if it comes with plugs/mushroom patches a decent vulcanising solution and a buffing solution it should providing you follow the instruction produce the same quality repair as any shop/ garage can hope this helps

We use a substance called "Bufsol". Its a rubber buffing compound.
You need to use something that is going to evaporate.

Brake and clutch cleaner will work.

kit arrived today. Turns out the plugs do not require any kind of glue to hold them in, instead they are all coated in lubricant to help them to slide in, the plug is a fair bit bigger than the hole you make for it though and there is a nifty little insertion tool Question
they do have mushroom heads though so shouldnt come out unless i go silly fast but not sure if it will do as a permanent repair...... thoughts?

the instructions state that it is only a temporary measure for the sole reason that the inside of the tyre cannot be checked at roadside, but i cant imagine there will be much to check given the insertion method(force in with tool then pull back firmly with pliers)

need to go out and do it but dont dare ram a 5mm round file into my tyre lol incase it dont work...... got a camping trip planned for the weekend aswell to add a bit more pressure.....................lol pressure, get it Laughing

*edit*found a vid on youtube showing how it works

What you are talking about is basically an RAC / AA style repair kit.

Cant you just take the loose wheel to a bike shop?

like i said, it's 30 miles away and i already have the kit now.

Just finished plugging it and it seems to be holding well, took it up to 80mph and it's still there. The way i see it, if it does come out i'll just bang another one in Laughing and repeat till the tyre is worn. if i get a blow out then atleast its the rear Very Happy

i really am determind to see this tyre out Twisted Evil
