This whole mission is wicked, I've been glued to NASA TV all week. Live spacewalks with helmet cams, too cool. Cool

I'm spreading the space nerd disease. Next thing you'll be buying the 'all the NASA footage from the 60s' dvds that are actually really good.

Now I'm pondering whether to go to the Buzz Aldrin talk at the London Literature Festival Thinking

It isn't on tv here in the UK, you watch on the 'net. www.nasa.gov/ntv

Today they're mostly snapping bits off Hubble and fighting with broken tools and stuck bolts. Kinda puts those garage traumas into perspective...

Went to the science museum formula one technology exhibit on Weds, was almost worth it just to hear about 'outgassing'.

That said though, I can't really see how they'd have all that much trouble. Since working with medical instruments for the last 3 months, I suddenly have a far better idea how well things /can/ be made when the correct motivation is there. Seriously, the pneumatic drills we have are 10k a pop and the rotating attachments are damn near frictionless Shocked Super bearings, which don't even use oil. Mad.

So I can imagine the stuff they're using is ridiculously high end.

Plus, just think how cool it would be to be able to have a good chance of actually throwing whatever part that has irritated you in to the sun. Got to be worth it.

Well today's the last spacewalk so catch it while you can. The ISS stuff isn't nearly as interesting (though I did watch the last docking and the russian launch Embarassed ).

Random fact... Atlantis' pilot did some of the flying in Top Gun. Kinda explains all movie quoting this lot keep coming out with. Cool

...Err actually now they're annoying me..I mean for Cliffs sake. All they're doing is changing some padded tinfoil sheets yet it took them ages to choose which order to do them in. Fly a Billion Dollor machine into space, yet couldn't organise a tin hat at an astronauts convention...'you pass it to John...Err maybe Cooter could..No He'll be tethered...Drew can you...Yeah i can but what order did Houston say?...Err Houston...
