 |
|
Mornin',
So I've got my test lined up, my Hornet waiting on Ice for me, now I'm curious as to how to go about taking care of the insurance.
I have a current policy out for my NSR125 which was started in February of this year, paid in full.
So I guess my question is.... do I cancel this policy and take out a brand new policy for the new bike (will this affect NCB?) and if I do this how long would I be looking at for refund of the remaining monies owed? Or do I just amend the details of the current policy and pay the difference?
Im guessing the latter option makes the most sense, but just wondering if theres some reason to go with the first option...
Cheers,

Depends which works out cheaper.
Remember to take into account any fees your existing insurers will hit you with (usually about a £30 "admin" charge).
If the difference is huge like it has been for me a couple of times it still works out far cheaper to swap. ____________________ My Flickr |

Don`t forget to be sat down, or have somewhere soft to fall on when you faint, after they tell you how much extra its gonna cost you ____________________ I accept no responsibility for swearing, drinking, motorcycle riding or your pregnant teenage daughter. |

Your current insurer may not even want to cover you on a 600 so you may have to take out a new policy. Run a few online quotes before you ring up to change your bike details that way you will know how much they are trying to lift your leg by ____________________ And did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?

it was bad enough with me going from a 125 to a 400 for the last 4 months of that policy... they asked for an extra £400 to do that... thats £100 a month!!
instead i took out a new policy for £350, for 12 months at 18 with 0ncb... making sure i used a different company.
then i got insured on my GSXR for £241 at 19...
sold it, bought an R6...
id had been insured on the GSXR for about a year and a half...
to swap it from GSXR to R6 they wanted over £900!
needless to say, im no longer insured with them, and im paying £271 at 20.
so yes. if you want cheap, get a new policy. unfortunatly though, i lost 6 months no claims as a result of cancelling my GSXR policy. ____________________ Blue_SV650S wrote: it was a sh1te wheelie, but it proves that he can get it up in 3rd and can do angles. I would call your ins co up 1st and ask them, if you can.....
Many brokers will use different underwriters and many specialise in 125 and will not let you change to a larger bike.
So while a online quote may come up, if could be with a different underwriter and not the one you are with now. ____________________ Just because my bike was A DIVVY, does not mean i am...... |
