Chemical metal?

Just a quickie, anybody used any on a cylinder head to repair a threaded hole? and is it any good?

Almost certainly won't work. You should use a helicoil/timesert.

I've seen that chemical metal stuff fail pretty easily, so its not going to stand a chance against 150PSI!

Helicoils are awesome, and pretty cheap if you get a local engineering place to do it. As opposed to the expense of trying it youself and making a balls up of it

i used some to fill some deep scratches on a generator cover...its pretty much just wood filler...but grey

JBWeld can apperently hold a cylinder head (according to their website...)

already ballsed up my head trying to get a knackered exhaust bolt out it's hole. I tried drilling it out cus I wanna helicoil it but the drill wandered a little. now my hole is too big to helicoil...

I borrowed a bigger helicoil kit from work and tahdah it's fixed.

I decided to do it right this time, so i got the black n decker workmate out of the shed fixed the head rigidly to the bench and set about it with the drill. No more piddly M6 helicoils in my cylinder head.. it's M8's now
