PostPosted: 10:34 - 21 May 2009    Post subject: Getting up on a morning Reply with quote

Have been struggling to get up for work recently. Work has flexi time which doesn't make it any easier as I can go in any time I want before 10.

Lately have just been hitting snooze and going in any random time before half 9. This morning managed to just sleep through untill 10, so was late in which doesn't look good.

It's not as if I'm dreading going to work, I quite enjoy it.

Any tips to get my lazy ass up?

When you press snooze, turn your bedside light on (or open curtains for better results)... next time you wake up (with the next alarm) you should feel slightly more awake.

Or go to bed earlier Rolling Eyes

Or if your alarm is loud enough place it on the other side of your bedroom, so that you have to physically get out of bed to turn it off/snooze, then force food down you or get in the shower. Don't return to bed!

Go to bed with the curtains open so you wake up in daylight.

Every bit of this post apart from "I enjoy my work" could have been typed by me, I also work flexi, I also can't get out of bed, I also love to mate with the snooze button.

I am on an official warning, due to me being late (after 10) 81 times between Sept 08 and now. Embarassed Laughing

So not just me then. Never had a problem when I wasn't on flexi Laughing

I sleep with the curtains open anyway, it had a slight effect when mornings got brighter, has worn off though.

Have ordered a new alarm clock which I'm hoping will melt ears. Will have that across the room and will set my phone to go off at a similar time.

Doesn't help that I don't feel tired untill half 11 or whenever.

The best method I've found is to put the alarm clock somewhere else in the room: it means you've got to get out of bed to turn it off, which kinda forces you to at least start to wake up...

it broke after a week, seriously im so grumpy in the morning i just tossed the base over the room and broke it then went back to sleep..

Laughing

edit: if you dont know the top part flies off and lands somewhere and the alarm will only turn off when you put it back on the base.

Absolutely the best alarm clock ever, pretty much the only one that has ever woken me up regularly.

I left it on when i went on holiday one year (woops) came back to a couple of angry notes from neighbours saying that they had been sleeping on the sofa all week cos of the noise Very Happy

Have a radio alarm tunes into Chris Moyles. That cretin would make anyone get up and turn the radio off.

I never close my curtains so that one won't work for me...

I have 4 alarm clocks, spaced 2 minutes apart... doesn't work...

The only thing that seems to work "sometimes" is leaving my bedroom door open... the cool morning air seems to chill me awake lol

Put your alarm on the other side of the room.

You have to get out of bed to switch it off so you are less likely to go back to sleep.

Drink as much fluid as you can before going to bed, then in the morning your bladder wakes you up.

My bladder wakes me up at 6.30am every morning. Trouble is when I only get up at 7.30am it becomes a bit damp.

Well I've bought one of those sonic boom alarm clocks, hopefully will stop the sleeping through problem. Will also set my phone alarm for the same time and leave it across the room blasting prodigy or something loud.

If that fails I'll get a helicopter alarm thingy Very Happy.
