The Bike

Oil and petrol leaks you can't see the petrol.

The leak was far worse to start with until my dad realised he hadn't done the bottom of float bowl up properly Doh!

Anyway my dad had been having so many problems with the old carb he bought a new monobloc amal carb which is meant to go on an older model Trophy which are meant to be easier to adjust. Amal still make old school carbs for these bikes Smile

He fitted the new carb set it to factory settings and it only took 3 kicks to start Laughing

I didn't record it because I expected it to take about 10 minutes before it would sound even remotely like it would fire. Anyway a few vids,

After it cut out I couldn't get it started so had to push it back there was a fair bit of oil and petrol leaking from it.

After this my dad took the fuel taps apart to see the problem as this is where the leak is coming from, then put her to bed.

The carb is really cool it is running no filter after the start of the inlet there is less than an inch before the part the slide Laughing

After the fuel taps are fixed he is going to run it for a little bit then strip the top end and replace the gaskets the sort the leak.

Took it out again today after fitting new petrol taps it is still pissing oil out of the head. It is such an experiance to ride, I dare say I was having more fun on it than the S4. It makes riding more of a challenge the carb is all set up now. The brakes are abismal, the gear lever is on the right you actually need to kick it into neutral then into 2nd. It is hard work but good fun it is also a tad scary but I'm not worried about how fast I'm going as doing 30 is scary enough. Hopefully it will be MoT'd next week and I can start taking her further afield.

Anyone know much about these I have a few questions?
