Ok, well I've got some self-etch primer, silver base colour, candy blue and clear coat.
I was told that the candy needs to be a really thin coat over the base colour but I can't get it to look right. The primer goes on quite thickly and gives a nice even layer, as does th silver base, but the candy is really thin and watery, and I can't get a thin enough layer to make it match the paintwork of my bike. If it's too thick, you can't see the glittery-ness of the silver and the blue looks to dark. It also comes out looking really streaky from the brush strokes.
I thought maybe I could put on a thick layer and then use some T-cut to rub some back off when it has dried, but the paint is water based and just dissolves! I got the paint from RS Bike Paint. ____________________

Don't have any spraying equipment, and wouldn't know how to use it to get a good finish
Going to give it another go. If it looks totally crap and sticks out, I'll just take it back to the plastic as it was before i started; It wasn't that noticable, black plastic against blue paintwork. ____________________

Nope, looks totally bollocks.
I was quoted £170 to respray it, and I'd be without a bike for a week, so I'm just going to replace the bloody thing. Should be able to flog the old one on eBay for a fair few quid. ____________________
