Strawberries - how do you do yours?

Bought a punnet of straws today ... £1 from Asda on special

As a kid, we used to put some sugar in the bottom of a bowl and dip the straws in that ... bite a bit off and re-dip!!

So to this day it is how I eat/like my strawberries .... I think any fruty goodness is instantly outweighed using my method ... but WTF its yummy!!


So how do you eat yours ... anyone else a dirty sugar double dipper??

One thing Dundee is good for is that there are a total abundance of soft fruit farms around here, so in the season you can get amazing fresh, ripe strawbs which have literally just come from a mile down the road. I tend to just eat these au naturale (or make the odd daiquiri with them). However what they say about pepper is true - grind some black pepper on them (not too much, just a small amount at first) and give that a try, it does actually taste quite nice.

Chop them into halves/quarters, bung them in a bowl, lob $hit loads of sugar on them and then bung them in fridge for a couple of hours. . . . Eat. Sugar brings out the juice in them, sometimes it's worth adding a tiny bit of water before putting on the sugar.

I use icing sugar.

And sometimes its very nice if you add a drop or two of either amaretto or marsala, and *then* leave them to soak ... mmmmm.

Nice with clotted cream.

No wonder I'm the size of a house.

I will and have eaten pretty much anything, being brought up with tripe and trotters probably the reason for that but for some reason I just can't stand strawberrys

I had strawberries hand fed to me on Wednesday by a 24 year old
classically trained Asian dancer. She is a good friend and she smells like angels aught to smell, I could watch her hands for ever as they exude beauty with each movement of her fingers. The strawbs were a bonus.

Strawberries have to be shared, partner holds in mouth, whilst you take a bite. This results in a kiss for every one eaten and a romantic time For extra pleasure, double cream can be added as well

Local or homegrown strawberries, with local or homemade vanilla ice cream!! What I had for dessert tonight
(actually what I've been having for dessert for the past few days!)

I like my strawberries 'sunny' warm to get the best flavour. I remember it was fashionable a while back to sprinkle a little balsamic vinegar on your strawberries - tried it, but it didn't do anything for me
