At 0:20am I heard a noise from the garden. I quickly looked through the window and saw two guys just behind the garden gate.. I think they saw me because they walked away...

I went to the garden and checked the gate.. the top latch was opened.. the bottom padlock was still holding the gate closed..

I rang a police.

Should I expect them to try again any soon? Thieving sc*m.

They will be back. Make sure your bike is locked up good and proper. you could also add extra locks on the gate,

If you've got the room park it in the kitchen for the next few days, and bump up your back gate security.

Don't expect the police to do anything. If your lucky a van will drive past slowly once then bugger off as the scrotes are long gone.

Not much else can be done really, a few more patrols in the area. Won't be any forensics on a latch on a garden gate.

To the OP, lock it up well maybe take it to a mates garage if you can. Do something obvious security wise let them know you know they are looking at it and that you are looking out for them

This sounds good, until he wants to actually get his bike out himself!

Plus the horrible smell of dog poo lingering in his garden!

I had one of those xena disc locks with a built in alarm, didn't really use it on the bike so I use it on my back gate now! Works in the same principle, if you fiddle with it enough, the alarm sounds Thumbs Up

Piece of paper on the gates:

"I am a highly trained S.A.S Sniper who is watching this bike day and night in conjunction with my comrades. We killed a man yesterday, do you want to be next?"

Thumbs Up

Sucks man, just park it somewhere different for a while + an extra lock, should do the trick.

Even better dig a big hole in the garden and then cover it up so when you wake up in the morning you would have caught the pair Laughing

or an added bonus fill the pit with dog sh*t Laughing

I've got a chain and lock on each wheel, alarm/immobiliser, shed alarm, car parked in front of the shed and a dog that likes to bark and bite.

You just have to make it difficult for them. Thumbs Up

You would be wide open for prosecution if the thieving scum hurt themselves then as it is obvious it's there to do damage. However some 6 inch nails left thru a plank on the floor from work your doing to your shed would be ok. Wink

good solution,

10 of these https://www.tlsfx.co.uk/p-29-ball-grenade-ring-pull-ignition-pea.aspx

£30, wire them up with trip wires infront / behind your gate, using quick release fastners.

unless youve been hit by one, you have no idea how much they hurt.

and yes, ive been hit by one, all across my back.

also, a couple of these. https://www.tlsfx.co.uk/p-42-thermobaric-grenade.aspx

the bastards wont know whats hit them.

Or to get attention without causing physical injury:

Guaranteed to make neighbours go "what the fuck was that?" and twitch their curtains a lot better than a normal alarm

buy your self a crazzy albainion with a fully loaded ak47 to sit their all day every day!

problem solved.

But on a serious note if you have a wooden gate stick nails out the top of it or razor wire etc etc.

+1 to what Flip said, you can't going leaving razor wire smeared in dog shit above the latch as it's obviously there to hurt.

Anything that would usually be in a garden is fine, so wood with nails in is fine. Remember that pallet you had to break up in the garden yesterday? Wink

sounds like somthing people would kick when they go past, just to see how loud the alarm is.

After a suspicious bloke came up to me as I was opening the gate, I've beefed up security, sabotaged the bike and set loads of noisy booby traps. Twisted Evil

Fish wire or string tied to something noisy like plant pots. Trip wires, objects designed to fall and smash glass objects. There's loads you can do. Maximum noise is what you want, second to inconvenience.

Then if they get past all them, the bike is useless as for some reason, important key components have vanished somehow Twisted Evil

CCTV and a big warning sticker well within eye view of the gaps in the gate help too.

a mate of mine had a ground anchor with a wheel bolt fitting for a bike, when he went on holiday he would remove the front wheel and bolt the bike to the anchor with a locking nut in his garage.

That would be unplugged after the first night after cats and various other creatures activated the light. Waste of money.

Well I have one and its never been triggered as I have it inside the garage. Soon as the door opens the light goes on (and pings in the house).
