Which do you prefer?

Looking through games to get for the 360 today i couldn't help but get annoyed at how expensive games are. I used to be an avid PC gamer a few years ago but my computer got out-dated so i got a 360 as it was the cheaper option. Recently i've been loathing for a gaming PC as the games are only £20 brand new, a lot more freedom to mod games and the online is much better organized.

What do you prefer? PC or console?

I prefer PC overall but consoles are just so quick and simple and easy, i can't justify spending over £1k for a gaming rig that will be outdated within a year .

Consoles. The games are usually out far earlier than their PC counterparts. The only games I ever play on the PC are FPS and flight simulations.

Every other genre is generally more accessible on a console.

I've got an xbox360 and a pc, pc i use far more than the xbox.

alot will depend on what games you like.

i prefer driving and footy games on the xbox due to the controller.

everything else i prefer on the pc (if you've got a decent gfx card etc).

better graphics, more add ons, cheaper, much much better control for fps with k/board and mouse.

xbox more practical, easier to relocate.

but pc is used far more than my xbox for games so that tells you my preference simple as that.

I use flight sim, and car racing (GTR-Evo) using 'trackir 5' which no console game can match in game immersion.

However PCs always get the best graphics, the best control systems and they tend to get the better games. Unfortunately the rise in console gamers has started to dumb down the games that come out for the PC, and I've noted that games that are designed for console as well as PC always seem to come out remarkably poor or short. Fear 2 being the biggest one I can point out at the moment. If it was designed purely for PC I get the feeling it would have been a longer game..

One of the big pluses for PCs is FPS's, they always work a lot better on the PC as it has a keyboard and mouse and that beats clumsy thumbsticks any day. A big plus side I find for the PC is the ability to connect any console controller to it, so if I really wanted to play a game like a console (Which I did for Assassins Creed) then I can.

Also we get steam which is the best games delivery system/game manager/multiplayer network I have ever used.

Oh and PC's don't have to pay to play online unlike the chumps with 360's .

Console for me.

It's just too much hassle keeping a PC specced up.

At least with a console you only have to upgrade every 5 years or so, and then it's about £400-500 when they are first released, even less six months later.

The games are more pricey unfortunately, but that's what second hand's for.

PC for the keyboard / mouse controls alone for me.

Consoles for offline multiplayer only really for me, Halo + few xboxes + few tv's + few crates of beer and a pizza = cheap wkend.

PC for everything else, FPS just doesnt seem accurate enough without a mouse.

Console for 'game' gaming, stuff I can pick up and put down.

PC for MMPORG's, FPS's and everything else, anything I have to get 'involved' with.

As a comparison, I have a PC that will run GHIII on full detail, speed etc, and also on my Xbox. TBH the PC doesn't compare to the Xbox version, it's good, but only in the way VHS was good before you were shown DVD.

I've had both since I was old enough to buy my own stuff, it's horses for courses.

PC. I play mostly FPS, and there's no substitute for a keyboard & mouse for that.

Canni be arsed with all the random conflicts and dicking about with settings to get games to run.

Although I'm noticing this generation of games consoles have so much online play involved that you still spend ages fannying about with signal strength etc, they're still alot more 'plug and play' then pc's.

I do wish I had a good enough computer to play spore and supreme commander though And Dawn of War 2. RTS's just don't work on consoles, and I do love a bit of them. Ah well, will just make do with Dawn of War Dark Crusade when I get the urge until I happen upon a decent enough computer for supreme commander.

And no, I don't care that I 'only' need to spend £300 ish on a computer to run it.
