hi all,

as the tital says??

never replaced them before and now i have done on my mito i was justw ondering if i should do below 6k for 25km or somthing?

id take it easy for the first hundred miles to let them loosen up.

As above. Just take it easy for 2/300 miles and then start to build up th revs/load from there.

Only really need to run rings in for any real length of time (and even then there's an argument that says you don't).

A lot of people say no running in required at all because they don't touch the crank and run on the oil film - which is all very well but how do they wear in the first place if that's the case? You could say because they wear, but what wears them - oil?

My argument is there's no harm in being on the cautious side, so that's what I would recommend

Id think if there was any wear in new bearings that would mean they were worn out? Cant hurt i guess but i dont think its necessary.

Do you mean main bearings or big end bearings?

Either way, yes. With 2-strokes, its always a good idea to put a bit of extra 2-stroke in the fuel tank when running in new bearings or bores/rings just to give them a bit more lube on the initial few miles.

Are we talking about the main bearings that hold the crank in the cases? These need no bedding-in.

But also tolerances in wheel bearings are prolly not as important ... that and they don't run as hot ....

Bearings are bearings, they are classified by an ABEC or ISO rating.

There's going to be no difference between wheel or crank bearings, quality-wise, in a standard motorcycle. The lowest-rated ABEC-1 is perfectly acceptable, the differences between those and the best is clearance in microns.

Welcome to 2009, nice to finally welcome you here. For at least the last 20 years bearings haven't needed to be run in due to close tolerances.

hi all,

crank bearings (what sit in the crank casing)


and ye si did put extra 2st il in the tank aswell a sthe injector.

did 48km erleyer more or less bellow 8km.

all is good Thumbs Up
